另外值得一提的是本片的電影插曲，是永遠的非主流搖滾教父—法蘭克札帕（Frank Zappa）的成名曲〈巴比布朗的沈淪BobbyBrown Goes Down〉。法蘭克札帕的歌中常見黃色幽默及對世事的嘲諷，悠遊於搖滾、古典與爵士之間，是美國六十年代搖滾樂發展史上的先鋒人物之一。
【女大生的秘密】中，女孩莎夏的父親是名過氣的搖滾樂手，老婆跟人跑了，女兒又充滿秘密，生活的不如意讓他在音樂上尋求寄託，他和樂團的成員彷彿斯洛維尼亞垮掉一代的代表，滿腔抱負卻鬱鬱不得志，年輕時組不成樂團，到老了還成天談論巴布狄倫和瓊貝茲。和朋友談到死亡時他說，死亡比活這更迷人，要是沒有女兒，他早就自殺了，父女之間雖不常交談，但細膩的情感流動令人動容。
片尾女兒回到家鄉，父親在酒吧裡自彈自唱起這首〈巴比布朗的沈淪〉，莎夏一邊抽菸一邊跟著哼起歌來，微弱的歌聲帶點落寞與苦澀，在無奈中默默認清現實，這個夜晚，再父親蒼涼的歌聲中，她彷彿一夜之間長大了。
記者問Frank Zappa說：在你的生命中，有什麼事情是因為你太專注於音樂中，而被你忽略的？
